Welcome to my world of wildlife art
My name is Annik Janssens, a Belgian wildlife artist specialising in realistic paintings in pastels and oils.
From a very young age, I felt a strong connection to animals and nature. Whilst others were playing, I spent hours drawing animals and observing their behaviour. That fascination has never faded and remains the driving force behind my work to this day.
After studying graphic design, my career took a different direction for many years. Yet my love of art remained. When, years later, I picked up a pencil again to create an animal portrait, an old passion was rekindled. What began with a few commissions grew into an artistic journey that has now brought me international recognition.
In my work, I strive to capture more than just an outward resemblance. I want to convey the character, the emotion and the unique presence of each animal. The eyes are often the starting point for a painting; they tell a story without words.
I find my inspiration in nature itself. During walks, travels and photographic observations, I study animals in their natural habitats. That direct connection with wildlife helps me to create authentic and personal works of art in which detail, atmosphere and emotion come together.
“Through my art, I seek to capture not only the beauty of wildlife, but also the silent connection between humans, animals and nature. Every painting is an invitation to pause, observe and appreciate the extraordinary world around us.”
